Aims and Objectives of the Society
- To serve for the welfare and promote the interests of radiographers
- To develop academic excellence and foster professional efficiency among members of the Society.
- To promote overall development of the patient care, appropriate teaching methods and standards so as to contribute to professional development.
- To initiate and work such schemes as may be necessary beneficial and conductive to the amelioration of the members namely recreational clubs, publication of professional literature, library etc.
- To encourage the Members to participate in affairs promoting the public welfare.
- To preserve, protect and promote the interests, right privileges, recognition, advancement as well as professional and social status of members.
- To import among its members the importance of principle of thrift, economies, social service and social help.
- To Co-operate, affiliate itself with (fraternal, national and international) association, with similar aims and objectives.
- To dignify the profession of Medical Radiographer by maintaining and improving the ethical, professional standards of education and research.
- To publish journal to facilitate exchange of ideas among professional, Radiographic technique.
- To organize seminars, conferences, workshops, symposia, discussions etc., to enable them to exchange their experience and views
- To promote and co-ordinate Research studies and encourage publication of literature on professional Radiologic Technology.
- To carryout Indian Society of Radiographers
Rules and Regulations
- The Society of Indian Radiographers Head Office will permanently be in Karnataka.
- The financial year of the Society shall be from the 1st April to 31st March.
- The society shall be a central organisation comprising of all the State and Union Territory of India.
- The Headquarters of the Society shall be at Bangalore. The working hours of the society shall be for two hours between 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. on all working days.
- The Secretary General shall enter the name and full particulars of every person admitted as Life member, Ordinary Member, or Associate Member in the Membership Register.
- Every member shall pay an admission fee and annual subscription as and when enhanced by the Society.
- Members shall cease in the event of resignation, failure to pay annual subscription, or death.
CLASSIFICATION OF MEMBERS
There shall be three classes of individual membership: Life Members, Ordinary Members, and Associate Members. Any qualified radiographer is eligible to become a member.
ELECTION OF MEMBERS
Any individual above the age of 18 years desirous of becoming a Member of Associate Members shall make an application to the General Secretary of the Society. Corporate Membership can be conferred on any Society, or organization.
MEMBERSHIP REGISTER
The Secretary General shall enter the name and full particulars of every person admitted as Life member, Ordinary Member, or the Associate Member in the Membership Register.
ADMISSION FEE AND ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION
The Annual Subscription for the various classes of Membership shall be:
- Admission Fee per annum: Rs. 1500.00 (Indian) / $40.00 (Foreign)
- Life Member: Rs. 1000.00 (Indian) / $30.00 (Foreign)
TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP
- A member ceases to be a member upon resignation, failure to pay dues, or death.
- Membership can also be suspended if a member violates the terms of the Constitution or works against the aims of the Society.
RE-ADMISSION OF THE MEMBERS
A suspended member may be re-admitted after conducting an enquiry by an enquiry committee and receiving approval from the Executive Committee by a majority of votes.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MEMBER
The member is obliged to accept and follow the constitution and Bylaws of the Society.
PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERS
- Attend all general body meetings
- Receive copies of journal and publications of the Society
- Vote in elections
FUNCTIONS AND POWERS OF THE OFFICE BEARERS
- Chairman: Approves meetings, conferences, financial matters, etc.
- Co-chairman: Assists the Chairman and takes over in the Chairman’s absence.
- President: Overall control of the Society, chairperson for meetings, and has casting vote.
- Secretary General: Day-to-day administration and correspondence, organizes meetings.
- Working General Secretary: Assists the Secretary General.
- Treasurer: Responsible for finances and accounts of the Society.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER
State associations shall send a list of Executive Committee members to the Central Office for approval.
ELECTION PROCEDURE
Elections for various positions will be held every two years, with candidates proposed and seconded by Executive Committee Members.
FUNDS OF THE SOCIETY
The funds of the Society shall consist of membership fees, donations, grants, advertisement revenue, and funds raised during conferences.
ACTIVITIES OF S.I.R. (STATE BRANCH)
- The State Branch shall make all the qualified Radiographers Life members of S.I.R.
- State branch shall conduct academic activities with the consultation of the Central Office.
- The State Branch shall send annual reports to the Central Office.
GENERAL BODY MEETING
- The Annual General Body meeting shall be held during the annual or bi-annual conference.
- The quorum of the General Body shall be one-third of the total members.
AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION
Amendments to the constitution can be made with a two-thirds majority vote in the General Body meeting.
